THE FORM

THE FORM

THE FORM

NOMADIC SUBJECTS is an indoor installation that interrogates the fundamental dimensions of human architecture. Semi transparent organic forms sculpted from iron wire mesh are introduced into the physical environment, creating a profound sense of unfamiliarity in space that was previously legible. The mesh behaves simultaneously like fabric, like smoke, and like collapsed structure. Raw material and precise geometry occupying the same form.

THE LIGHT

THE LIGHT

THE LIGHT

SHIO engineered a complex array of light sources to project against these physical contours, isolating and revealing only the reflected sectional lines of the sculptures within an absolute, darkened void. The light finds the hidden order inside the apparent chaos. What looks organic from the outside is revealed as deeply structured from within.

Viewers must physically navigate the darkness, interacting with these implied architectural lines to re-explore the limits of their own spatial imagination. 700cm in length and width, 400cm in height. Not a work you stand in front of. One you move through, losing and finding your bearings as the light shifts.
