PERMANENCE is an immersive installation examining how human systems attempt to shape nature and memory through architecture and technology, and how those constructions inevitably shift, fracture, and dissolve. A fractured concrete monument staged against a suspended natural remnant. Constructed weight against fragile organic presence.
SHIO developed the creative direction to investigate the tension between the enduring and the ephemeral, asking whether the structures we build are meant to last or simply to provide a calculated illusion of stability.
The art direction maps the slow transition between the recorded and the forgotten. Raw geological fragments against clinical technical elements. Scale, weight, and material presence foregrounded. No softening, no abstraction. The viewer is placed in direct contact with the reality of decay. Multiple screens document geological time at close range while the monument in front of them performs its own ruin.
Reactive technology mirrors systemic decay in real time. As viewers move through the room, physical and digital structures respond, tracking behavioral input to alter the digital landscape. The space becomes an active study in the friction between human intervention and natural entropy. What remains, and what quietly disappears?
