ULTRA LINE VER.30 is a kinetic iteration of an ongoing series of large scale light installations dedicated to shifting the viewer's perception of their own scale and their relationship to the environment. A suspended physical light beam projected straight into the sky, laser control system carried aloft by optical fiber and a helium balloon. The result is visceral and immediate. A single line of white and blue light cutting through the urban darkness, reminiscent of artificial lightning.
The beam spans 3000cm vertically. The structural footprint on the ground is 10cm by 10cm. Maximum presence from minimum physical intervention. The installation operates as a responsive system, reacting to environmental triggers to keep the beam in a state of constant flux. Never static. A monument that breathes with the atmosphere around it.
