GGGGG: A Transcontinental Struggle for Digital Sovereignty

( Immersive, Audiovisual, Co-artist : Fabian Mosele )

GGGGG is a collaborative project between SHIO and Synthiola.

Based in Taiwan and Germany respectively, the artists perform in real-time, utilizing 5G technology to dissolve the boundaries of time and space and pioneering a new form of synchronized, transcontinental co-presentation.

The work depicts two parties engaged in a struggle for dominance over the performative space. As minimalist and maximalist aesthetics collide, the performance seeks to reclaim the true meaning of "5G." Originally representing techno-optimistic discourse, the five G’s are subverted by a systemic glitch, shifting the narrative toward a more conspiratorial tone.

Throughout this digital dialogue, the two parties invade and occupy each other’s environments, battling over the five G’s projected within the gallery. These contrasting styles compete, collide, and intertwine as each side fights to seize the "right to speak" in a hyper-connected world.
