The Fume is a cinematic manifestation of urban existence, created in collaboration with Taiwanese artist someshiit. SHIO was commissioned to lead the creative direction, art direction, and production for this release: constructing a visual system to house a narrative of city life and raw observation.
The release demanded a fragmented, emotionally driven visual language. SHIO developed a multi-format system spanning motion, stills, and digital assets. The logic of the identity draws from degraded media textures, AI-generated sequences, and rapid-cut editing: a study in the friction between technology and memory.
The resulting EP Identity codifies the solitude and repetition of the metropolitan experience. Custom typography and distorted textures align the sonic output with a rigorous aesthetic presence. Art direction for the video and stills balances cinematic scale against intimate, unpolished moments: translating urban solitude into a tangible atmosphere.
This system functions as a cohesive world across all touchpoints. It ensures that the music is not merely heard, but inhabited. The visual world mirrors the lyrical content: layered, evolving, and rooted in the beauty of the fractured moment.
